Matt Savaria is a New England native who relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 2007. Before moving he studied fine art throughout high school and then at UMASS Dartmouth; excelling in figure drawing and sculpture. A natural understanding of both composition and visual weight have both played an important role in Matt’s work. With an extensive background in art history Matt has a strong appreciation for the classic form. Self taugh in photography, Matt has taken to the camera. He believes that the camera is now the missing link to everything that he encompasses. He is able to use his knowledge of antiquity and his love of travel to capture something in between. Matt’s favorite city is Florence, Italy and piece of art is ‘Laocoön’ at the Musei Vaticani.
